Your Efemera piece was handcrafted specifically for you. Here's how to keep it beautiful for years to come.
Gold & Pearl Pieces (Echoes Collection)
- Put jewelry on last. Apply perfume, hairspray, lotion, and sunscreen before putting on your jewelry. Chemicals can dull gold and damage pearl nacre.
- Take it off first. Remove jewelry before swimming, bathing, exercising, or sleeping. Chlorine, salt water, and sweat are enemies of pearl luster.
- Wipe after wearing. A soft, dry cloth after each wear removes oils and residue that can build up over time.
- Store separately. Keep each piece in the pouch we provide. Pearls are soft (2.5-4 on the Mohs scale) and can be scratched by harder gemstones or metal.
- Wear them. This sounds counterintuitive, but pearls actually benefit from being worn. The natural oils in your skin help maintain their luster. A pearl locked in a drawer for years can dry out and lose its glow.
Enamel Rings (Draped in Time Collection)
- Avoid impact. Enamel is essentially glass fused to metal. It's durable for daily wear but can chip on hard impact — avoid banging rings on countertops, weights, or hard surfaces.
- Remove for heavy work. Gardening, cleaning, cooking, gym — take your enamel ring off.
- Clean gently. A soft damp cloth is all you need. Never use ultrasonic cleaners, steam cleaners, or chemical jewelry cleaners on enamel.
- Store flat. Don't toss enamel rings into a jewelry pile. The enamel surface can scratch against harder metals.
- Embrace the patina. Sterling silver will develop a natural patina over time. Many people love this — it adds depth and character. If you prefer bright silver, a silver polishing cloth on the exposed metal areas (not the enamel) will restore the shine.
